I bought this foundation on a whim. It has been released at the same time as the Clinique’s Even better refresh, but they didn’t have my shade in store, so i bought the Hydraluminous instead and I’m so glad i did!
For reference i am fair to light skinned with pink undertones. I am prone to redness, so i tend to stick with neutral under-toned foundations. I take a NW20 in Mac. I usually have combination to oily skin, but i am currently retinolling (is that a word!) and so my skin has done a massive 180 and is currently flaking like a Greggs sausage roll, which has meant i now understand the pain you dry skinned girlies (and guys) are going through.
It applied like a dream with both a brush (Sigma F80) and a beauty sponge (Real Techniques). Great even coverage, which is build-able without being cakey. Blends so so easily and feels smooth and light on the skin. It has that glow from within look about it which is perfect for brides, or for anyone for that matter. It didn’t cling to any dry patches and it didn’t pill or move throughout the day and worked well with both a primer underneath and on bare skin. I did set the foundation and it did lose that glow initially, but after a few hours the glow was there without being shiny. I’m so amazed at its power for a high street brand!
Shade wise, i couldn’t decide between the cool vanilla or the ivory and now on application i wish i had purchased the ivory as the cool vanilla seems a little grey on my skin, but the No7 girls always give great advice on colour matching and i would see if they would give you a little sample.
Packaging was great. The tube released just the right amount without having to squeeze too hard and with it being plastic, it travels well. You can also see how much you have left and also when the time comes, you can also snip off the end to get every last drop out!
It’s a definite winner. Perfect price, lovely packaging that would travel well and nice range of shades for light skins (in fact all 12 of the shades are for lighter skins!), but the downside of this is that there is literally no shades for darker skins, which I’m hoping they sort out soon, as its really unfair to limit the way they have. Since its release, it has been on some sort of offer, so if it has your shade go for it.
